So it seems that Pinterest is the hot new thing in social media these days with over ten million (!) unique visitors last month. There are dozens of articles that cover the startup’s explosive growth and awesome usage numbers. Here are a few metrics to ponder (and while you do, member that Pinterst is still invite only):
- 11 million visits in the week ending December 17th (source Hitwise)
- 7th in the top 10 social media sites ranking in November, just ahead of Google + and Tumblr (source Venturebeat)
- Pinterest is the third most engaged site behind Facebook and Tumblr (source Comscore)
- Pinterest is rivaling Google in referrals and sends more traffic to content sites than Google+, Youtube and linked-IN combined (source shareaholic)
Not bad for a startup that got its first round of funding two years ago! You can also check out the Venturebeat Pinerest infographic.
Have you seen any impact from Pinterest? What do you see as the most effective social commerce sites and applications?
